The Sydenstricker Community Plant Exchange was founded in 2023 by two plant loving friends who saw the Schoolhouse as a fantastic place to bring the community together to share plants! What started as an experiment has grown into a multi-seasonal exchange that grows every year with an active on-line community.

PLANT EXCHANGE RULES & GUIDELINES
What we accept:
- Plants (perennials, annuals and houseplants)
- Seeds (sealed in plasic zip-lock bags or small water-tight jars or containers, and labeled)
- Pots and Planters
- Nursery Pots (in good condition)
- Gardening tools and supplies
Please note!
- Please label your plant if you know what it is. If you aren’t sure, use an on-line plant identifier, or ask on our Facebook page and one of our plant experts will help you ID it.
- We encourage native and non-invasive plants, as they are best for our local habitat and the environment.
- Give and take plants at your own risk! Before bringing a plant home make sure you or someone in your family isn’t allergic to it. If you have pets please make sure to research plant toxicity. You are responsible for the safety and well-being of your two and four legged family members.
- Please bring bags/boxes to protect your car when bringing plants home.
The plant exchange belongs to ALL OF US, and we all share in the risks and rewards! When you visit, we encourage you to check the condition of the plants awaiting new homes, water if needed (there is a rain barrel at the back of the shed) and remove any dead plants or junk. Please leave the Plant Exchange better than you found it!
